But recently, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 2 users are reporting a battery issue with battery life melting like snow in the sun. That the users of these models are reassured, Samsung is deploying a fix!

Autonomy in freefall for these smartphones

The release of the One UI 5.1 update, a builder overlay based on Android, was eagerly awaited by Samsung users. Since February 2023, several ranges have benefited from it. Except that this update has a huge impact on the autonomy of several smartphones including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 2. It is the Samsung Keyboard application that harms the battery of these models and users are no exception since it is a a native app.

On one of its forums, Samsung confirms that the One UI 5.1 update “ increases battery usage ” because a process related to the generation of Samsung Keyboard stickers and emojis. The manufacturer confirms the deployment of an update to correct the problem.

How do I fix this battery life issue?

If you have one of the smartphones mentioned above, namely the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 2you will have to update the Samsung Keyboard application if this is not done.

Note that you can also do this if your phone is not in the list but that you noticed a free fall of the autonomy these last weeks.

  • Launch the app Galaxy Store
  • Click the icon Menu represented by three horizontal lines at the bottom right
  • Select Updates
  • You can tap the circular arrow next to the Samsung Keyboard app to apply the update (click Update all to install all the updates for your applications to kill two birds with one stone)
