PHOENIX (AP) — Jesús Sánchez hit a three-run homer and launched the decisive drive in the ninth inning with a double, leading the Miami Marlins to a 5-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.

The victory improved the Marlins’ record in games decided by one run to 12-0. It is the best figure in that area in the history of the Major Leagues.

Miami was tied in that stat with the 1972 New York Mets.

Sánchez led off the ninth inning off Andrew Chafin (2-1) with a double to left field. Miguel Castro, also from Dominican Republic, entered the relay and his compatriot Bryan de la Cruz ran instead of Sánchez.

De la Cruz advanced to third base on a ground ball that Jon Berti was retired. Joey Wendle doubled down the left field line to push in the go-ahead run.

Dylan Floro (2-1) pitched the scoreless eighth for the Marlins. AJ Puk, Miami’s seventh pitcher, finished the game for his sixth save.

For the Marlins, Cuban Jorge Soler 4-1 with a run scored. Venezuelan Luis Arráez 3-0 with a run scored. The Dominicans Sánchez 4- with a run scored and three RBIs, De la Cruz without an official turn with a run scored.

For the Diamondbacks, the Dominicans Ketel Marte 3-1 with a run scored, Geraldo Perdomo 4-1 with an RBI. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 3-1 with a run scored. Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera 1-0. Venezuelans José Herrera 3-0, Gabriel Moreno 1-0.
