The Chamber of Senators of Santa Fe granted final sanction to the bill for the province to adhere to the National Law No. 27590 “Mica Ortega”, on Prevention and Awareness of Grooming or Cyberbullying against Girls, Boys and Adolescents.

It should be noted that in recent weeks different social actors requested urgent adhesion to the National Program, after the death of a 12-year-old girl in Capitán Bermúdez, for carrying out the “Blackout Challenge” on the TikTok social network.

The name of the regulation is in homage to Micaela Ortega, the 12-year-old girl who disappeared on April 23, 2016 after meeting Jonathan Luna (28 years old), who used four false accounts on the Facebook social network, through which he pretended to be a minor, and who, after entering into confidence with Micaela, murdered her.

It seeks to promote the development of skills for participation and thoughtful, safe and responsible use in digital environments by the community. Also the protection of the different types of violence that can be exercised towards girls, boys and adolescents.

The objectives of the Program are:

• Generate awareness about the responsible use of information and communication technologies.

• Guarantee the protection of the rights of children and adolescents against cyberbullying.

• Train the educational community at the initial, primary and secondary level of public and private management to raise awareness about cyberbullying.

• Design and develop dissemination campaigns through the media to meet the objectives of the Program.

• Provide information on how to report cyberbullying crimes in court.
