The Provincial Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Ipec) issued another monthly report on exports originating in the province of Santa Fe. It reveals that in the first quarter of 2023 foreign sales reached a value of USD 922.2 million and decreased 20.6% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The data that draws attention is the sharp drop in exports of primary products in what was the first quarter of 2023, with a total of USD 267.3 million, 63.2% less than in the same period of 2022. The quantities measured in tons decreased 68.7%, accompanied by an increase in prices of 13.7%.

The fall was marked by wheat. According to the report, it was exported in the first three months of the year for a total of 83.2 million dollars; when in 2022 it had exported a total of 502.2 million, translating into 1,725.4 tons compared to 236.2 this quarter; It was followed by grain corn with 30.4 percent less (value expressed in tons) and which represented 138.3 million dollars.

In the first quarter of 2023, foreign sales of manufactures of agricultural origin totaled USD 2,130.6 million and showed a 17% reduction in relation to the same period of the previous year. In terms of tons, exports fell by 25%.

Exports of Manufactures of Industrial Origin were registered for an amount of USD 332.9 million, 56.8% less than in the same period of 2022. Exported volumes registered a decrease of 74.3%, accompanied by an interannual variation in prices positive of 37.7%. The exported value of Fuels and Energy was USD 27.1 million, reflecting a positive interannual variation of 11.5%.

The soybean industrial complex showed improvements in oil dispatches but declines in the case of meal and pellets. The exported value of meat fell -2.0% despite the higher volumes that grew 23.8% compared to the first two months of 2022.

In relation to foreign sales of dairy products, they grew by 2.3% in value but fell by 4.4% in net weight. The provincial tanning industry presented a significant drop in exports. In the first two months of 2023, manufacturing exports of industrial origin (MOI) showed a marked contraction of -57.9% in value and -68.4% in volume.
