New measures for Hajj 2023

Saudi authorities have started implementing new instructions organizing the 2023 Hajj season. Saudi Arabia now requires travelers wishing to enter Makkah to obtain a licence ” competent authorities.

Those who do not have this document will be stopped at security checkpoints and barred from entering Makkah, according to the Saudi Public Security Service report.

In a statement, the body announced that in accordance with the instructions given for the Hajj, from today, Monday, May 15, 2023 (25 Shawwal 1444), pilgrims without entry permits will be prevented from accessing the holy city.

The reform aims to return all vehicles and travelers who do not present an entry permit issued by the competent authorities, a resident card from Mecca, a Umrah permit or Hajj permit.

Saudi authorities increase vigilance over pilgrims

The Hajj, or the pilgrimage to Mecca, is one of the five pillars of Islam and is considered one of the largest gatherings of people in the world. Every year, millions of Muslims travel to Mecca to perform the sacred ritual.
