Perr Schuursdefender born in 1999 for Turin, was interviewed by Turin Channel and made the following statements.
The interview
On sports practiced in the family: “There is a big difference between these sports: handball, tennis and football. I’ve always played tennis and soccer, but then when I was 12/13 I chose soccer. I had to join a professional club, I wanted to have a team and that’s why I made this choice. When we eat together we talk practically only about sport. I think I inherited this from my father who has always been an example in sport for me” The best moment: “One of the best moments was at Fortuna Sittard, I’ve been playing there since I was 16/17 and in my first year in the first team I was the captain and we were promoted to the Eredivisie”.
On the move to Ajax and Toro
“It was already a big leap for me to go to Ajax, it was the first time away from home for me and my girlfriend. I played well, I even made some mistakes but everything is needed to improve. I felt the need to come to Italy“. On the differences between the Eredivisie and Serie A: “In the Netherlands you think more about possession, here instead there’s a lot more physicality and a lot more tactics, the championship is more closely contestedOn the environment: “At Ajax we were playing in the Champions League, so the atmosphere was always fantastic, but here there is more emotion from the fans. If you fight for them you are appreciated and if you win even more. They are very important to me, even when I go out with my girlfriend and they stop me for pictures and autographs”
On Superga
“When my friends come I take them to Superga, it’s the most important thing for me. I like Turin and the climate is perfect too” About the kitchen: “My girlfriend always cooks, but if I have to cook, we go out to dinner, because I can’t cook. The Italian cuisine is the best, when I was little I used to come here every year on vacation and I prefer it to the Dutch one” On Toro: “From the first day I feel good, I’m happy to be here. I thought it would be difficult because we speak so many different languages in the dressing room, but they are all nice and always help me. On speaking Italian: “In the last few months I’ve felt the need, that’s why I have Italian lessons two or three times a week”.
