Scott Pilgrim: The Series | Creator says anime was released at the ideal time

Scott Pilgrim: The Series arrived 13 years after the last adaptation of the comics Bryan Lee O’Malley. Still, the anime featured the return of the cast from the 2010 live-action film to voice their respective characters.

In an interview with ComicBookO’Malley is the co-showrunner of the animated series BenDavid Grabinski commented on the moment the production was launched.

The author of the original work explained why it took so long to bring Scott Pilgrim back to the public: ” a combination of things. Scott was dormant for a little while, but I still heard from fans and found myself drawing this world regularly. It was really the idea of collaborating with Science SARU, working with the original cast and Edgar Wright. That would be a beautiful dream coming true. In 2020, I started talking to BenDavid about it and he had some great ideas. It was three or four years of back and forth and something very unique and special developed.”O’Malley said.

The producer explained why he believes the return occurred at the right time: “The ‘now’ of it all really comes down to when someone will greenlight the project, but in this case, our series is better for when it was made. Both of these things happening at the same time for Scott Pilgrim was a happy coincidence. We think that It’s a better show because Bryan was with it for so long, and if it had been made ten years ago, it wouldn’t be as good.”Grabinski said.

All 8 episodes of Scott Pilgrim: The Series are available on Netflix with the option of dubbing in Portuguese. The studioScience SARU(Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, Devilman Crybaby, Tatami: A Journey in Time) was responsible for the animation.
