Search for driver of truck that crashed and fell into river in New Jersey

The whereabouts of a driver are unknown after a dump truck crashed and plunged into a New Jersey river overnight.

The vehicle went through a guardrail along Bridgeton Fairton Road and ended up submerged in the Cohansey River in Bridgeton, Cumberland County, New Jersey State Police said.

Two people were in the truck when it crashed, according to police.

The passenger managed to get out and was on top of the partially submerged vehicle when rescuers showed up, police said. The driver was not there.

The passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said. The condition of that person was not disclosed.

Rescue teams are now looking for the driver.

A body was seen along the water line, police said. However, search teams continued to search for the driver as no identification was made.
