Lhe city of Auckland has been shocked by his second shooting in two weeks. The incident has resulted in two people being admitted to the hospital, both in critical condition after being shot in the head and abdomen.

The incident appears to have taken place Thursday night after an altercation between a group of people on Queen Street, which is the heart of the ‘Central Business District’ and one of the main commercial and shopping areas.

According to Inspector Sergeant Craig Bolton, a group of people got into a physical altercation before a man drew a gun and fired several shots.

The man fled the scene on one of the many ‘Lime’ electric scooters that are scattered throughout the city.

The area was cordoned off and there was a large police presence throughout the night, before it was reopened around 7am on Friday.

Detective Sergeant Craig Bolton has issued a statement stating: “We believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no risk to the community. The police have zero tolerance for violence in public places, especially when firearms are used, and are working to hold criminals accountable.”

This is the second shooting in Auckland in two weeks. Three people were killed on July 20, just a couple of hours before the opening ceremony of the Women’s World Cup. Spain is scheduled to face Switzerland at Eden Park (Auckland) on Sunday in their round of 16 match.
