The Cerco La Granjita operation, which involves 1,000 soldiers and 100 agents of the National Civil Police (PNC), allowed the capture of four gang members who belong to the criminal structure called Mao Mao on December 29.

Among the four members of the Mao Mao criminal structure is a minor, according to Defense Minister René Francis Merino Monroy on his Twitter account.

The detainees were identified as José Luis Vásquez Jímenez, 33 years old, Edgar Iván Artiga Hernández, 45 years old, and Moisés Eliseo Pérez Rodríguez, 21 years old.

The La Granjita fence is an extension of the security operation installed in the Tutunichapa community, San Salvador, which is part of phase 5 of the Territorial Control Plan called “Extraction”.

Until last December 27, the fences installed in the La Tutunichapa community and the La Granjita sector have allowed the capture of more than 60 gang members.
