See where they're distributing free laptops in Montgomery County

Montgomery County continues free laptop giveaways for low-income residents through the month of August.

In a press release in July, the county explained the requirements to receive one of the 34,000 computers that will be distributed:

  • Receive SNAP, Medicaid, WIC for parents and infants, Social Security, VA pension, and survivor benefit
  • Free or reduced price school lunch
  • Pell Grant or FAFSA for College Students
  • HOC Housing Choice Vouchers
  • Household income is less than $29,160 for one person, $39,440 for two people, and $10,280 for each additional person

“Although low-income families make up only 21% of households in the county, they make up a significant 60% of households without computers. It is our responsibility to ensure that everyone in our community has an equal opportunity for success in today’s digital age” County Executive Marc Elrich said in July.
