In its search for a foreign national coach, the Brazilian Football Association (CBF) is looking to Spain. As the Catalan ‘Sport’ reports, Luis Enrique is the new top candidate to succeed the ousted Tite. CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues wants to break with the tradition of local coaches and advocates a coach from Europe.
In addition to Enrique, the record world champion has already dealt with other well-known names. Unlike Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and José Mourinho, the former Spanish national team coach is currently unemployed. In mid-December, Enrique said he saw himself “Not at another World Cup. I see myself in a position to take over a club. But I’ll wait until next season.” The 52-year-old left a door open: “Unless something very interesting comes up.”
