Senate asks to eliminate toll collection for Paraguayan vessels

During the session, the Senate approved the draft declaration that reminds Argentina of the validity of international agreements on fluvial transport and asks to immediately eliminate the toll collection on Paraguayan vessels.

One of the firm requests within the declaration is the suspension of toll collection that is illegal, since there is no basis for Argentina to charge that amount and furthermore, the navigability of rivers is an international law enshrined in treaties and articulated from Mercosur.

“It is a time when Paraguay feels affected, it affects our foreign trade and it will bring higher costs to the family basket,” said the Colorado senator. Gustavo Leite.

The opposition senator Kattya Gonzalez He questioned that the Paraguayan ship continues to be detained and that it is important to claim the free navigation of the river.

Likewise, on behalf of Paraguay, the legislators will transfer the concern to the Parlasur for the measure adopted by the neighboring country to be reversed.
