An allegedly drunk driver hit a child under the age of 14 who was on a horse in events reported at around 10:14 on Saturday night on the PR-867 highway, specifically at kilometer 7.3 in Toa Baja.
According to preliminary information, the man identified as Oscar Hiran Morales Reyes, 50 years oldwas driving an Audi A42 and hit a horse in which the teenager was riding.
Due to the accident, the minor was seriously injured and was transported to a Hospital Institution.
Meanwhile, Morales Reyes, was transported to the Highway Patrol division where a breath alcohol test was performed, revealing .14% alcohol in his body.
The legal limit for driving under the influence of alcohol is .08% in Puerto Rico.
Agent Gilberto Millán attached to Tránsito de Bayamón, together with prosecutor Alberto Cruz, took charge of the investigation.
