Dheavy snowstorms create chaos, causing accidents and power outages in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.


Two women died in Poland, in Katowice (south) and Gdansk (north), one after a tree fell on her house, the other in a car accident.

In northern Slovakia, 27 municipalities have been placed in an emergency situation by the crisis center, which allows measures and restrictions to be taken more quickly. Several ski resorts are closed due to the dangers and residents of certain areas are advised not to leave their homes.

In the Czech Republic, no less than 90,000 homes were without electricity on Saturday, according to the public media Radio Prague. The most affected region is that of Moravia-Silesia, in the east of the country, but the regions of Hradec Králové (East Bohemia), Central Bohemia, Liberec and Ústí nad Labem (North Bohemia) , among others, are also greatly affected.
