A few showers will develop Tuesday afternoon due to high temperatures and move to the east, so most of New England will end up with at least a chance of a few passing showers from afternoon into the evening, before disappear overnight Tuesday with patchy fog.

The heart of a large jet-stream level storm is moving over New England on Wednesday afternoon. Charged with cold air several thousand feet above the ground, the temperature difference between a warm ground and a cold sky will mean clouds will build up Wednesday with scattered showers and thunder starting at noon. With so much cold air in the air, it’s even possible for some storms to dump hail or a brief gust of strong wind in some communities later in the afternoon or early evening.

A First Warning has been issued for Wednesday night for severe thunderstorms with the potential for damaging winds.

Thursday brings a small break in the level of the jet stream: the slow-moving storm that has been disrupting our environment moves east, while a new disturbance plunges into Canada’s Great Lakes; This break will allow for a day of calmer weather with only isolated showers late in the day, but the new disturbance approaching from the west arrives Friday with scattered showers and thunder from noon on into the evening.
