All good things must come to an end, and the series Sex Education on Netflix is no exception to the rule. From 2019 to 2023, it allowed subscribers to follow the struggles and moments of joy of the iconic Moordale students. It all started with Otis and Maeve (Emma Mackey), two characters for whom the spectators took a liking, then over time, they also enjoyed discovering their comrades. At the end of season 3, many actors had plans to shine in other programs, which is why Sex Education suffered a large wave of departures. Laurie Nunn, the creator, then decided to conclude her story with her fourth burst of episodes. After teasing the possibility of designing spin-offs, she prefers not to keep fans hoping for too long.
Sex Education : spin-offs considered… but not now
Nearby Hollywood Reporterthe designer has not closed the door to writing and directing potential spin-off series : “There are so many different ways to explore Moordale more. I really loved some of the new characters that came into season four, I think it would be really cool to maybe see more of them.” However, in order not to play with fans’ feelings, she prefers to be clear about her short and medium term plans: “But, to be honest, I’m not really thinking about spin-offs at the moment. I’m just kind of taking a break and getting to know what my brain feels like without writing Sex Education for a moment.”

Is a spin-off on the reunion of Otis and Maeve possible?
Since season 1 of Sex Education, viewers of the Netflix series hope to witness Otis and Maeve’s happy ending. However, as the designer recalls, seeing them end up together was never in her plans: “They’re 17, and I think it’s really hard to meet your soul mate at 17. And I always kind of imagined that they might meet up 10 years later when they’ve matured and grew up a little bit.” What could be the subject of a spin-off series? “It’s the spin-off. They’re just married and boring” she replies, jokingly. We will therefore have to wait to find out if Sex Education will one day return to our screens…
