Due to a new appeal against Judge Otazú’s resolution, the hearing for the imposition of Miguel Prieto’s measures was suspended for the second time. The mayor insists that the investigation is “staged.”
For this Thursday at 11:00 a.m., the related judicial proceeding was scheduled to the patrimonial damage of 1,700 million guaraníes to the Municipality of Ciudad del Este, where the current mayor Miguel Prieto is being prosecuted.
However, for the second time in a row, The hearing was suspended, since the defendants’ defenses appealed the decision of Judge Otazú, who rejected all the incidents presented by Prieto and others investigated.

“The more we try to do things well, the more blows we are going to receive and we are already preparing for that,” said Prieto, who appeared at the Palace with his lawyer. In front of the building headquarters, citizens and officials who arrived this morning from Ciudad del Este, demonstrated against Prieto.

Prieto is under investigation for breach of trust, due to patrimonial damage of more than 1,700 million guaraníes, in a fictitious purchase of 2,500 food baskets in a pandemic (2020).
The prosecution requests house arrest, considering that there is a danger of obstruction of the investigation. This is what Judge Otazú must decide on the day the hearing can finally be held.
The official and Francisco Raimundo Arrúa are also charged with the same degree of responsibility.
In addition, Maggi Elizabeth Fariña Almada, Sebastián Martínez Insfrán, José Félix Cáceres Galeano, Julián Benítez Gamarra, Higinio Ramón Acuña, Cirle Elizabeth Alcaraz Ramírez, Nelson Alexis Segovia Acevedo, Fermín Avalos Britos and Emili Vanessa Florentín were prosecuted as co-authors.
