Shania Twain is a famous singer who recently revealed in an interview with The Sunday Times that the sexual abuse she suffered by her stepfather made her have a different awareness of her body, to the point of wanting to disappear her femininity.

The singer spoke about the physical and sexual abuse she received from Jerry Twain, her mother’s husband, and the strategies she used to avoid it as much as possible.

“I would hide and flatten my breasts. She would wear bras that were too small for me and I would wear two, I would downplay it until there was nothing feminine about me,” the music star told the publication.

It should be noted that with the upcoming release of her album ‘Queen of Me’, the singer has spoken to various media about this terrible problem, since she had experiences that cost her a lot of work to overcome.

“I was abused as a child, my father would fondle me on top and make me go shirtless, and I was growing up,” Twain explained to the ‘Today’ morning show.

To show that she has been able to get ahead, the singer faced one of her biggest fears and wanted to expose her naked body on the cover of her new album, since now she feels more comfortable in her skin.

“I am happy in my own skin. It’s the only skin I have, so I have no choice. It’s time to start loving myself and really accepting it, not shaming or intimidating me.”

Sharon, the singer’s mother, as well as her stepfather died in a car accident in 1987.
