Based on an agreement between the companies linked to the sale of fuels and the Commerce secretary, a 4% monthly increase was agreed upon as part of the Fair Prices program. As planned, the second half of January begins with the rise in gasoline and diesel prices. This was confirmed by the company Shellwhose values will be updated starting at midnight on Sunday.

In November of last year, the oil companies together with the Ministry of Economy They agreed to a cap on gasoline increases for a period of four months. In December the 4% increase was finalized and this Sunday the rise will be for a similar amount. As established, in February the increase will remain the same, but in March the percentage will be 3.8%.

The agreement was considered positive by the companies because it allows for predictability in the market. From the company Shell it was confirmed that it will update the values of gasoline and diesel starting at 0:00 this Sunday, January 15.

Through a statement, the company Raízen Argentina, licensee of the Shell brand, announced that “it will increase fuel prices by an average of 4%.” That is, respecting the percentage agreed as part of the program.

In this context, they explained that the “price update tries to minimally absorb the increases in the prices of biofuels, the increase in logistics costs, and the variation in the official exchange rate that affects the price of the raw materials that we use for production. of fuels”.

Meanwhile, the liter of diesel will go from $162.10 to $168.60 and the liter of premium diesel from $222 to 231 pesos.

The agreement signed by YPF, Panamerican Energy, Raizen and Trafigura was carried out with the objective of having predictability and containing inflation. In fact, the State promised to guarantee access to foreign currency for companies, especially for the supply of lubricants. In addition, it agreed to temporarily reduce taxes on fuel imports in order to guarantee supply for the agricultural sectors.

In March the last increase in the Fair Prices program in fuels will take place, and for this reason, last December the president of YPF Pablo González highlighted infobae that once the deadline has expired “we will get together again”. For his part, Teófilo Lacroze, CEO of Raizen, considered that the price agreement was given within the framework of an expectation that inflation and devaluation would converge to that percentage of maximum increase.
