New Hampshire police are investigating a shooting at a prom that left four injured.

The incident occurred in Manchester at about 5 pm on Saturday, police said.

Two women and two men, all in their 20s, were injured but are expected to survive, police said.

Manchester Police Lieutenant Matthew Barter said on Saturday that the investigation was continuing.

“Our detectives will work all night to clarify the fact,” he said.

Two hooded men approached the event and one of them fired a gun, according to preliminary reports. The two then ran away. Police said it didn’t appear to be a random event.

“Families and friends should be able to celebrate in peace. Gun violence is unacceptable in our community. Thankfully there were no fatalities, and my heart goes out to the victims and the families of those who were injured,” Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig said in a statement to WMUR-TV.
