Showers, hail and possibility of tornadoes: much of Colorado at risk of severe weather

DENVER, Colorado – After a week of significant storm activity across much of the state, Thursday will be no exception as heavy rain is forecast.

The National Weather Service has raised the risk of severe weather, which means storms that could bring flash flooding, hail and tornadoes are expected in specific areas.

Temperatures will remain in the high 80s range and one of the biggest concerns will be the possibility of flash flooding.

Here is a more detailed forecast for the next few days:

  • Thursday: 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, high 88. Southwest wind 6 to 15 mph, shifting to the north-northeast. Wind gusts up to 24 mph.
  • Thursday night: 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Mostly cloudy, low around 60. Southeast wind 7 to 16 mph becoming southwest. Wind gusts up to 24 mph.
  • Friday: mostly sunny, high near 86. North-northwest wind between 6 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
  • Friday night: partly cloudy, low around 59. North-northeast wind 7 to 14 mph becoming southwest. Wind gusts up to 22 mph.
  • Saturday: Sunny, high near 84.
  • Saturday night: 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, low around 57.
  • Sunday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, high near 76.
  • Sunday night: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, low around 56.
  • Monday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, high near 77.
  • Monday night: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, low around 55.
  • Tuesday: mostly sunny, high near 81.
  • Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, low around 57.
  • Wednesday: sunny, high near 86.
