What exactly can you expect from the remake of Silent Hill 2? Hardly any changes? Radical changes? Bloober Team has now commented on this.
On the one hand, the remake wants to modernize areas of the game that have not aged well. Overall, the new edition should “remain true to the original”.

Bloober Team Marketing Chief Anna Jasińska recently commented on how far the studio has gone and how much freedom has been given by Konami DreadXP.
“We’re focused on bringing that distinctive, visceral vibe to the modernized Silent Hill 2,” she says. “Longtime fans shouldn’t worry that we’re ‘forgetting the essentials’ while beefing up the title. We’re sticking to traditional story canon while reimagining gameplay and modernizing graphics from the ground up.”
“One big visible change is the introduction of an over-the-shoulder camera, which changed the perspective of some familiar locations, but also required an overhaul of the combat system.”
“As you can see we are not deviating from the original concept of this cult classic, we just have some ideas on how to make the special scary factor more appealing to today’s audiences.”

With caution
According to Jasińska, they follow his “very safe approach” to making changes to the game. But if you feel something needs updating, you do it.
But how did the collaboration actually come about? “We received an invitation from Konami to participate in the Tokyo Game Show,” she says. “To our delight, Konami asked us to come up with a concept for a remake of the second part and in return give us the opportunity to bring the concept to life.”
“Of course, we weren’t the only candidates. Many other studios also applied to collaborate, but in the end it was our concept that won Konami’s heart. They recognized our commitment and passion for horror, and that alone was a big deal tremendous honor for us.”
A release date for the remake of Silent Hill 2 has not yet been set. It will be released for PlayStation 5 and PC.
