It almost feels crazy to say it, but the fact is that two whole decades have passed since the launch of one of the best city builder simulators of all time. It was January 14th, 2003 when Sim City 4 hit store shelves around the world, a swansong for the Maxis franchise that, thanks to the Rush Hour expansion and a thriving modding community, enjoyed many, many years of success. Today, of course, we have plenty of excellent city builder simulators in various forms, not least when Cities: Skylines took over the throne after EA completely failed with the new version of Sim City they launched in 2013. A game that most of us probably want to forget. Unfortunately, EA themselves have not chosen to do anything special for the twentieth anniversary of Sim City 4, but for those of you who want to relive the glory days of the series, it is available both on Steam and GOG. And for God’s sake, don’t forget to listen to the game’s wonderful soundtrack, which is actually on Spotify.

What are your memories of Sim City 4?

Now it’s going to be bragging!
