An 86-year-old driver overturned his car in Tempelhof on Wednesday afternoon and caused major property damage. As the police announced on Thursday, the senior first drove around 5 p.m. on Tempelhofer Damm in the direction of the city motorway. According to the information, he overtook a van parked in the second row on the left near the Paradestraße junction.

When he cut back to the right, the 86-year-old drove his car into a parked car, causing his vehicle to roll over and hit the car of a 37-year-old coming from behind, the police said. The senior’s car landed on its roof. Passers-by helped the man get out of his car.

The 86-year-old was injured in the accident in the arm and suffered a shock. Rescue workers took him to a hospital, which he was able to leave again after outpatient treatment.

The 37-year-old driver was unharmed. Because he was also “under the impression of what was happening”, he was taken to a clinic as a precautionary measure, which he was able to leave again in the evening. In the accident, six other vehicles that were parked on the side of the road were “sometimes severely damaged,” the police said. (tsp)
