Bethesda is set to make a comeback this year with Starfield (if all goes well) and millions of Bethesda RPG fans will be able to immerse themselves in an incredibly rich new sci fi universe. Nevertheless, The Elder Scrolls saga remains timeless and while Skyrim continues its journey and The Elder Scrolls Online always welcomes new expansions, it is an Oblivion remake project that is making news today.
Oblivion under the Skyrim graphics engine, it’s coming soon and it’s fan-run
Released in March 2006, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion marked many minds by offering an impressive graphic gap and a very rich universe for the time. The game is set 6 years after the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and can be considered a classic open-world RPG. Despite its obvious strengths, the game will soon celebrate its 17th birthday and has aged graphically, but that was without counting on the community of The Elder Scrolls.
Indeed, a team made up of around fifty fans of the game – and incidentally developers – has set itself the goal of reworking Oblivion using the graphics engine of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and exploiting the Creation Engine. It is precisely a mod planned for Skyrim which will be completely free for owners of the game. The developers behind the Skyblivion project hope to release it before 2025.
In the meantime, their work simply deserves a lot of recognition as the result is stunning in the latest trailer released this week.

Making games takes time, and that goes doubly for a volunteer project the size of a AAA game that took years of hard work from a full time team of devs. Anyway, we’d like to share today that Skyblivion is in such a state that we can promise a 2025 release at the latest We hope that with your support, we can complete the final stages of realizing our dream, and maybe even beat our own estimate.”
