Paramount has now come out and confirmed that there will be a sequel to Smile. The film, which was released in September of last year, was a real smash hit and brought in a whopping $217 million worldwide, so that a sequel would appear was not entirely unexpected, of course, and also not considering how the first film ended, which set the stage for a continuation. But I’ll be nice and not spoil anything for those of you who missed the first film in question.
In Smile, we got to follow the therapist Dr. Rose Cotter who, after an incident with a patient, begins to experience terrifying events that she cannot explain. What Smile 2 will be about we can only speculate, but hopefully it will pick up where the other one left off and we can be happy that the same director is along for the ride, namely Parker Finn. So for those who loved the first movie and also love scary movies, there is every reason to smile big. But for us cowards, we hope there is a pillow or two in the cinemas to hide behind.
