Guerrero: The siege of the narco hangs over three legislators from Tierra Caliente

In the northern and Tierra Caliente regions of Guerrero, the dominance of the Michoacan Family is evident, which in those areas even regulates the prices of inputs and even what is published by the media. Another adversary criminal group, Los Tlacos, is already present in areas of mining exploitation in the Central zone, places that are reached by the highway that connects Chilpancingo with Tierra Caliente and through which the Tlacos restrict the free movement of people. including three local deputies who are prohibited from leaving their regions.

HOT LAND, Gro. (Process).– Although official reports indicate that the Familia Michoacana is the dominant criminal group in the North and Tierra Caliente regions of the state of Guerrero, three local legislators from the North and Tierra Caliente regions have not appeared in Congress sessions local since the last week of March because another criminal group, Los Tlacos, have threatened them so that they do not cross the highway that connects those regions with Chilpancingo, seat of the Legislative Branch.

They are PRD deputies Elzy Camacho Pineda, from the district corresponding to Coyuca de Catalán (Tierra Caliente), and Susana Paola Juárez Gómez, from the district of Teloloapan (North), as well as PRI deputy Adolfo Torales Catalán, from Arcelia (Tierra Caliente ).

They are three of the 17 mayors and legislators from both regions –among them a federal deputy– signatories of a document that the Morenista governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda received on April 8, in which they request an “urgent” hearing. to deal with a security issue, and for this they use as their main argument the threats they receive from the Los Tlacos criminal group.

“(…) The lives of the population and ours are in danger due to constant threats from the criminal group called Los Tlacos, who have made it clear to us, through phone calls and messages, that any of the citizens who live in the region of Tierra Caliente and the North zone, municipal officials and the undersigned, that we pass through the city of Chilpancingo de los Bravo, Guerrero, or at any other point where said criminal group has invaded territory, will attack our physical integrity, putting our health at risk. life,” the document reads.

The text is an antecedent of two events. The first, the meeting on April 27 between the governor and the mayors and legislators who signed that document at the headquarters of the 34th Infantry Battalion, in Ciudad Altamirano, Pungarabato municipal seat, where they reportedly exposed the pressure from Los Tlacos, rival group of the Michoacan Family.

That meeting would not have developed in the best terms because, according to a person who was present, there was a discussion regarding the governor’s claim against the mayors due to the presence of another criminal group in the region that even imposed the prices of basic products, an allusion that was understood as referring to the Michoacan Family.

The second event was the blockade of regional highways in Tierra Caliente from April 28 – the day after the meeting with the governor – until Monday, May 1, a blockade headed by the mayors and supported by the same legislators who sign The document.

The issue did not end with the blockades, which had never occurred in Guerrero and were carried out after a police operation led by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) that culminated in the seizure of luxury cars belonging to the Michoacan Family.

The state government associated the protest with an action by organized crime. In a bulletin from the spokesperson for the Coordination for the Construction of Peace, he described it as follows: “Groups linked to organized crime staged blockades of various means of communication in the Tierra Caliente region in order to inhibit the operations deployed in the area. ”. In his number 2427, Process documented the power of the Michoacan Family in the region after the blockade.
