In a bizarre series of events, a routine lawn-mowing task turned into a terrifying ordeal for a woman in Silsbee, Texas, after a snake and a hawk attacked her at the same time.
Peggy Jones was mowing the lawn Tuesday when a snake seemed to fall from the sky and coiled around her arm. As she tried to get rid of the clinging reptile, she started to bite his face and broke his glasses.
As the snake gripped his forearm, a hawk suddenly swooped down and began attacking Jones, attempting to snatch the snake from him.
“He kept saying, Help me, Jesus. Help me, Jesus,” he told KPRC-TVan NBC affiliate.
Jones recalled that the hawk approached him at least four times before it finally took the snake and flew away.
photos show deep cuts and bruises on Jones’s bloody right forearm. She was rushed to the emergency room after her husband heard her screams and came running to her rescue.
“I was screaming and screaming. He didn’t know what he was saying. I thought I had been bitten by a snake,” she recalled.
But the puncture marks were stab wounds from the falcon’s talons, he reported. The Washington Post.
A resident of the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson received an unexpected visitor. The terrifying moment was caught on video.
“It was a very strange and heartbreaking experience,” he told the newspaper. “And I just thank God I’m still alive to tell about it.”
This wasn’t the first time Jones had found himself in a dangerous situation with a snake. Two years ago, a poisonous snake bit her while she was cleaning her house, according to the Post.
