Madrid, 30 apr. A total of 7,248 Paraguayans residing in Spain will be able to exercise their right to vote this Sunday to elect the next president of their country, according to data from the Superior Court of Electoral Justice (TSJE) of Paraguay.

Most of them are registered in Madrid (2,792), where the consulate has set up six polling stations; followed by Barcelona (1,825), with 4 tables; Malaga (south), 1,415 registered and 6 tables; Bilbao (north), 602 and 2 tables, and Valencia and Alicante, both in the east, with 289 and 325 registered and one table each, respectively.

Voting began at 10:00 a.m. local time (8:00 GMT) and will end at 8:00 p.m. (18:00 GMT).

Registration for the padrón abroad closed on May 31.

In addition to their new president, Paraguayans today elect a vice president, 45 titular senators and 30 substitutes; 80 titular deputies and 80 substitutes, 17 governors and 257 members of the departmental boards and the same number of substitutes.

Spain is the second country with the largest Paraguayan community, surpassed only by Argentina.

The third and fourth place are occupied by the United States and Brazil, respectively. EFE
