The name Steve Hemmerstoffer is no longer unknown, as he is up to mischief on Twitter under the name @OnLeaks as someone who publishes reliable leaks on upcoming devices from the technology world fairly regularly. Together with the website greensmartphones.com, Hemmerstoffer now has exclusive render images of the upcoming Xperia 1 V from Sony published. The device is expected to appear this summer.

Visually, the Xperia 1 V is very reminiscent of its direct predecessor, the Xperia 1 IV. A triple camera setup is also on board here, aligned vertically on the back. The size of the device should be slightly smaller than its predecessor.

Specs according to the leak:

  • Display: 6.5 inch flat
  • Dimensions: approx. 161.0 x 69.3 x 8.5mm
  • Rear camera: Triple lens, expected to be 12 MP (main camera) + 48 MP (wide angle) + 12 MP (telephoto)
  • Front camera: Single lens, expected to be 12 MP
  • Battery: 5,000 mAh (unconfirmed)
  • Chip: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (unconfirmed)
  • RAM: 16 GB (unconfirmed)

The 3.5 mm jack connection, the shutter release button for the camera and the integrated fingerprint reader in the power button are also still available. The specs regarding SoC and RAM are currently still purely speculative, but equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 16 GB RAM, the Xperia 1 V would clearly be one of the current top models. In contrast to the predecessor, the camera flash of the Xperia 1 V is to be moved to the camera hump, which should be a bit more lavish than before. We’ll probably find out more about the device towards the end of this month when Sony is supposed to officially announce the Xperia 1 V.
