Miami, Apr 15 (EFE).- Spain will double its participation this year in the eMerge Americas fair in Miami (Florida), a bridge to the United States for emerging companies, especially from Latin America, with fifty startups and, for the first time , representatives of the innovation departments of two large companies: Iberia and Endesa.

The delegation is completed with the agents of the Insomnia ecosystem, Spain Startup and Investors and Digital District and with the external promotion organizations of the autonomous communities of Madrid, Valencia and Andalusia.

All of them will be present at this great entrepreneurship forum that will be held on April 20 and 21 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

EMerge Americas has become, in just 9 years, the largest event related to technological entrepreneurship in the southern United States and Latin America.

This is the second year that the public body ICEX Spain Exportation and Investment and Red.es have a space at eMerge Americas with the aim of promoting the international projection of the Spanish sector of the digital economy.

Francisco Javier Garzón, in charge of the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Miami, told EFE that, in addition to having more participating Spanish startups -48 compared to 22 in 2022- this year they have a “complete agenda” that is not limited to the fair.

The “immersion program in the American ecosystem” that will take place in the days leading up to the fair consists of advice from experts on matters such as implementation and financing, round tables, meetings with local venture capital companies and a workshop on ” pitch”, the new collaborative tool for creating presentations.

The program also includes knowing first-hand the experience of Spanish entrepreneurs who have successfully established themselves in Florida.

According to Garzón, of the 22 Spanish startups participating in eMerge Americas 2022, three later settled in Florida.

The promotion organizations of Valencia, Andalusia and Madrid have their own delegations of participating companies, but they are all under the umbrella of ICEX, which, as in 2022, will have a space at the fair for “networking” and an agora for events and presentations.

One of the tasks of the Spanish pavilion at eMerge is to provide support to those foreign startups that want to establish themselves in Spain.

ELEVEN SPANISH EMERGING EMERGENTS IN THE SPECIAL SHOWCASE

Garzón highlighted the fact that the fair has selected 11 Spanish startups for its “Showcase”, the showcase for the 100 proposals that it considers most interesting.

In 2022 there were six and this increase shows that the Spanish ecosystem is thriving, added Garzón.

Within the official program of the fair, which will be inaugurated on the 20th by Tom Brady, considered the best player in the history of the NFL, the major league of American football, a session will be held on the advantages that Spain offers as an entry point to the European continent after the recently approved “Startup Law”.

In 2022, the first edition to be held after the health crisis caused by covid-19, the fair brought together more than 250 exhibiting companies, the same number of speakers and 20,000 visitors from 50 countries.

Some of the sectors that will have thematic content at the 2023 fair are adtech, AI/Machine Learning, Virtual and Augmented Reality, cybersecurity, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, digital health, Internet of Things, impact investment, sustainability, future of cities and robotics.

Three congresses will be held in parallel: eGov (political leadership), Women, Innovation & Technology (women in technology) and Investment Summit, spread over different stages and with first-class speakers.
