Spain prepares for Three Wise Men parades

MADRID.- The Three Wise Men arrive today -January 5th- to Espaa to participate in the parades prior to Twelfth Night, in which they will distribute gifts to the little ones; and this year they will do it in different means of transport, from the subway to a century-old sailboat, including helicopter, hang glider or skis.

Since Thursday, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar traveled by public transport, specifically, by metro, to the center of the capital to begin preparations for the parades. The one in Madrid will begin at 6:30 p.m. (Spain) and will feature the circus, music and acrobatics. In addition, carry a message of gratitude to the elderly.

In Barcelona, ​​the three Wizards of the East will make landfall aboard the Santa Eullia pailebote, a century-old sailboat that is part of the fleet of the Barcelona Maritime Museum, and will participate in a parade that will give prominence to the sea, on the occasion of the celebration of the America’s Cup this 2024.

In Catalonia, other parades stand out, such as the Cornell de Llobregat parade, which will have a section on Can Corts Avenue without music or special effects for people with auditory hypersensitivity and autism spectrum disorders; or that of Vic, where the Three Wise Men will arrive guided by the fire of the teyas.

In Andaluca, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will arrive in different ways, for example, in Sierra Nevada (Granada) they will make their traditional ski descent along the El Ro slope, accompanied by a large entourage.

Also notable, among other parades, is the one in Higuera de la Sierra (Huelva), which hosts the oldest parade in Andalusia and the second in Spain, with 16 floats in which the residents of the town represent motionless images from the Bible; that of Seville capital, with a float that will distribute more than 1,500 kilos of mojama, to promote the consumption of fish in children; or that of the Campo de Gibraltar region, where children drag cans to warn the Three Wise Men not to forget to leave toys in their homes.

In Galicia, the Three Wise Men will arrive by car, train or boat to collect the requests of the little ones. One of the appointments will be in Santiago, where they will take a route through the streets of Compostela with sweet and musical surprises until they reach the Obradoiro.

In the afternoon, they will arrive by train in Catoira and in Ourense they will leave the AVE station. They will also arrive at the Tui-Valena eurocity by train and, from there, they will board their floats to greet the population on both sides of the Mio River.

In Alicante, Alcoi is also preparing to celebrate its parade of the Three Wise Men, considered the oldest in Spain, since its documentary history dates back to 1866. Every year more 1,000 people. In November 2001 it was declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
