Before you can use it, you have to agree: if you want to use the function, you have to agree to both the account alarm conditions and the Card Control special conditions.
The savings banks have activated the “Card Control” function for participating savings banks. With this function, customers can control themselves where the savings bank, debit or credit cards issued by the bank can be used. The currently adjustable usage scenarios include paying in shops, withdrawing cash from ATMs, paying on the Internet and paying abroad.
The settings can be found either in the Savings Banks’ Android app “Mobile Payments” or in the general Savings Banks app from Google Play. Before activating the function, the app asks for consent to the conditions for the account alarm clock and consent to the special conditions for Card Control.
Each of the application scenarios can then be activated or deactivated in the app at any time and from any location. For example, users can deactivate card payments abroad to improve their security if they are in Germany anyway. Or stop paying in shops when you’re on holiday abroad.
More concrete requirements for Card Control
Card Control enables usage scenarios to be activated or deactivated, such as deactivating online payment or payment abroad.
In order to be able to use the application, interested parties must have an online banking contract with an electronic mailbox from a participating savings bank. They must also have one or more bank cards supported by the application. No digital card stored in the “Mobile Payment” app is required to use Card Control. After installing the app, Sparkasse customers can access Card Control and control the use of their plastic cards.
Card Control also supports the upcoming Girocards, which are to be distributed from the middle of this year. Although they will lose the Maestro logo, they are to be further upgraded and made better use of, for example, in online trade and the digital world.
