A spectacular car accident What happened this Saturday morning left a person slightly injured and a car engulfed in flames in West Miami.
It all started when a sedan-type vehicle – which allegedly lost its brakes – rear-ended a truck that was at a traffic light.
“It was a very strong blow, which shook my head. I came out dizzy and a car’s brakes went out and it collided with mine, he says the brakes went out.”explained Abel Leyva, the driver of the truck, in statements to Telemundo 51.
“This really complicates my whole life, a very bad day for me today,” added the man, who explained that he was going to work when the accident occurred.
The other driver also remained at the scene, where paramedics treated him for facial injuries that left his clothes very bloody.
“The other person got out of the car, his forehead was full of blood and he asked me if everything was okay,” added Leyva, whose truck suffered damage to the rear.
After the impact, the Sedan caught fire at the intersection of 57th Avenue and 8th Street, west of Miami.
The fire was brought under control shortly after firefighters arrived, although a thick column of smoke continued to billow from the car for a while.
Authorities are investigating whether the vehicle truly had a mechanical failure and whether the driver was sober, although witnesses to the accident said it did not appear that the driver was under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
