It may sound like a strange April Fool’s joke, but it’s actually completely true. Scientists have succeeded in fertilizing two eggs with the help of a DualSense. This guided a sperm robot from the company Overture Life that made it all the way to the eggs and two little girls have now been born from this. It was done, according to MIT Technology Review, at the New Hope Fertility Center in New York. The idea behind this is to make it more accessible, and cheaper, with so-called IVF treatments. These treatments can cost many, many, many thousands of dollars. This PS5 sperm is just one of the experiments they are working on. Eduard Alba who performed the procedure was not nervous.

“I was calm. In that exact moment, I thought, ‘It’s just one more experiment.”

Overture Life told the site that they envision a future where everything happens in an automated box where the sperm and egg go in and an embryo comes out five days later. But there are of course others who have a different view of it all and who believe that humans still do this better than machines.

“You pick up a sperm, put it in an egg with minimal trauma, as delicately as possible. For now, humans are far better than a machine”says Zev Williams of Columbia University’s fertility clinic.

Hopefully no drifting joysticks.
