There was something? While everyone is looking forward to the front row of royals with Charles III. and Princess Kate, second-row sensitivities such as Princess Anne and Camilla (before their marriage to the King) are revealed less often. They are by no means any less spicy.

London – Who cares if the king’s bride gets along with the monarch’s little sister? Right, rather nobody. In fact, you don’t have to delve into Game of Thrones to be part of the game of love and power. ‘Cause it’s just an almost forgotten reality that Charles’ III. (74) Sister Princess Anne (72) and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla (75) have one thing in common: they dated the same man with Andrew Parker Bowles (83).

Countless pictures testify to Princess Anne’s closeness to Andrew Parker Bowles

Camilla was even married to him, but Princess Anne’s relationship with Andrew Parker Bowles was all but forgotten. But only almost. Because when they appear together on a larger scale, such as most recently at the reception at Buckingham Palace, which was held in honor of the East and Southeast Asian communities, it becomes obvious that if they don’t have to, Camilla and Anne are rarely seen together in a photo. Is your relationship suffering because of Princess Royal’s old love affair with Camilla’s ex?

Royal experts recognize loudly mirror a rapprochement over time between the two, which should make things easier for King Charles. After all, in Camilla and the Princess Royal he has two women at his side who stand by him with words and deeds. They form a triumvirate in countless pictures, even when Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022) was still alive. Assuming there was still a whiff of catfighting at the palace, Charles would be permanently ill-advised.

Anne’s relationship with Andrew Parker Bowles in The Crown

Viewers of The Crown know that in season three, then-Prince Charles befriends Camilla, while Anne becomes involved with her alternate boyfriend, Andrew Parker Bowles.

As you’d expect, the story was heavily dramatized for the show, but there’s a grain of truth to it as well.

A look back quickly reveals whether old rivalries exist here. It is well known that Anne and Major Andrew Parker Bowles were incredibly close because they shared an interest in horses. In June 1970, they began dating. But as author Sally Bedell Smith writes in her book about Prince Charles, as a Catholic, Andrew was “an unlikely candidate for marriage to a member of the royal family”. After their romance cooled, Camilla and Andrew sparked, the couple married in 1973 and had two children, Tom and Laura. But despite their marriages, Anne married Mark Philips (74) in the same year, Anne and Andrew remained close friends, he even became the godfather of Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall (41).

Andrew and Camilla divorced in 1995 and Camilla married Charles in 2005. From that point on, Anne and Camilla were sisters-in-law. According to the book Camilla: From Outcast to Queen Consort, Camilla found Anne’s “chilly demeanor difficult for several years and somewhat unnerving to deal with.” But it is also said that Anne “gradually became more approachable” after she Camilla’s work for the royal family have seen.
