Spy device found in military chief's offices

KIEV.- security services Ukraine announced on Sunday the discovery of a listening device in the offices of the future head of the Ukrainian army, Valeri Zaluzhni. Although the authorities assured that the device “was not operational”, this discovery raises questions about possible espionage attempts in the Ukrainian military.

Given this discovery, an investigation was launched to clarify the alleged “illegal use of special technical means to obtain information.” However, so far no details have been provided about those possibly responsible for this espionage attempt.

In their statement, the security services stressed that no data storage devices or remote audio transmission devices were found. However, it was announced that the artifact will undergo exhaustive examination to unravel any additional information.

Tensions in Ukraine

Zaluzhni, under the direction of President Volodymyr Zelensky, is in charge of Ukrainian military operations in the conflict with Russia, which has persisted since Russia’s invasion of part of Ukrainian territory in February 2022.

The news comes in a context marked by tension between Zaluzhni and Zelensky, especially after the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive that began in June of this year. This discovery adds a layer of complexity to already delicate relations in the current geopolitical scenario, where Ukraine faces significant challenges in its fight for sovereignty and internal peace.
