From this Saturday, the company Trafigura, concessionaire of the Puma service stations; put into effect a 4% increase in all its fuels. The increase occurs after the renewal of the price agreement authorized by the national government: it is an agreement that is in force from April 15 to August 15 and enabled the oil companies to apply the first increase from this Saturday, as reported the Ministry of Economy of the Nation. Within this framework, it is expected that in the next few hours YPF, PAE (Axion) and Raízen (Shell) will also make the same decision.

The agreement presented by the Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royon, and the Secretary of Commerce, Matías Tombolini, establishes “a guideline for a 4% monthly increase in the prices of gasoline and diesel.” “We understand that this requires effort from companies, the State is already making an effort to contain prices and anchor inflationary expectations so that this does not have an effect on prices and on people’s pockets,” said Royon.

For his part, Tombolini said that “the signing of this agreement allows us to give a signal of predictability to consumers, users and companies and, in addition, accompanies the road map established by the minister Sergio Massa that encourages us to maintain fiscal balance and take care of reserves”. In December it had been agreed with the authorities of the four main refineries in the country to include gasoline and diesel in the Fair Prices program, with increases scheduled in four months: 4% in December, January and February and 3.8% in March.

Throughout this period, monthly inflation was 5.1% in December, 6% in January and 6.6% in February. Now, The extension of the price agreement on fuels scheduled for March coincides with the record inflation figure of 7.7% released this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

This new increase of 4% is already reflected in Puma service stations and shortly also in the other main brands.
