Microsoft Edge is no longer the second most popular desktop browser. According to a recent statistic, the app has been overtaken by Safari. Although Apple’s software isn’t offered for Windows, more users now use Safari than Edge.

According to the latest report from stat counter Edge is only the third most used desktop browser since April. Since Safari can only be installed on Apple devices, the switch from Edge to Chrome for some users may be responsible for the decline. Google Chrome is installed on 66.13 percent of systems, making it the most popular browser. While Safari has a market share of 11.87 percent, Edge can only be found on eleven percent of desktop PCs.

In fourth and fifth place are Firefox with 5.65 percent and Opera with 3.09 percent. Of course, it should be noted that the market shares are only determined on a sample basis and the figures published in the report may fluctuate.

Similar conditions can be observed in the mobile browser versions. While Chrome is installed on almost 62 percent of smartphones, Safari can be found on just under 27 percent of devices. Samsung Internet takes third place with five percent. Opera and UC Browser each have a market share of almost two percent. Edge does not have a significant market share in the mobile sector.
