Paramount+ (SkyShowtime in Sweden) has ordered a series based on Dungeons & Dragons, which in a first season will be eight episodes long, with the pilot episode written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thuber (Red Notice).

eOne and Paramount Pictures are co-producing the project, and they’re also making the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie — out in March — together. A sign that they think the collaboration has been good.

According to Deadline the Dungeons & Dragons franchise will be one of Paramount+’s biggest projects to date and could potentially launch a cinematic universe based on the popular role-playing game. We will have to wait for news about the actors or the story, however, because it will take several years before the project sees the light of day.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned Dungeons & Dragons movie to look forward to, as well as season two of the animated D&D series Vox Machina coming to Amazon Prime this month.
