The theories surrounding PlayStation’s next speech are all over the place. “Rumors” amplified by the PlayStation Lifestyle site suggest a State of Play for very soon.

The rumor around an Xbox Direct is intensifying. According to serious sources, Microsoft is planning the equivalent of a Nintendo Direct for January 25. The Redmond company will present its next big releases in more detail and should prepare some surprises for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. With the imminent arrival of an Xbox conference, players are convinced that in the absence of a traditional PlayStation Showcase last September, they will be entitled to a big State of Play in the coming weeks.

A State of Play from February?

2023 should be a busy year for Sony. Between Forspoken, FF16, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Horizon Call of the Mountain or even the DLC dedicated to the last game, the Japanese publisher already has a great program for the year. The month of February will be more particularly marked by the arrival of PSVR 2 and its thirty games at launch, which we have finally seen very little. On the Web two rumors have emerged.

The first estimates that a State of Play devoted to PSVR 2 would take place in February to present more fully the new hardware and its flagship games such as Horizon Call of The Mountain, The Dark Pictures Switchback VR, Resident Evil Village or even Gran Turismo 7. This would be an opportunity to show the new features of the helmet in more detail, while revealing the entire launch line-up.

The other rumor speaks of a fairly substantial conference in March to take stock of the next PS5 releases. Between Resident Evil 4 Remake, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Final Fantasy 16 or even Horizon Forbidden West The Burning Shores, Sony still has a few cartridges to show. Especially since some home studios are preparing a few surprises, like Naughty Dog. Tom Henderson also let it be known that a rather surprising new PS5 was also in the cards. We were expecting to see it at CES 2023, but Sony might be keeping it warm for another highlight. Obviously, these “rumors” are to be taken with great hindsight as they serve more as speculation from players than rumors from credible sources. Still, it seems at this point that February’s State of Play theory around PSVR 2 is more than plausible.
