The lion brand sold just over a million cars worldwide last year, a figure down 15% compared to 2021. Its sales outside Europe, on the other hand, are increasing and now represent 27.4 % of total.

After the publication of the commercial results of the Renault group and its brands Renault, Dacia and Alpine, it is the turn of those of Stellantis to publish the results of their 2022 sales. Peugeot thus opens the ball by announcing, this Monday, January 30, having sold 1,056,182 vehicles worldwide last year, a figure down 15% compared to 2021.

Growing sales outside Europe

In its press release, Peugeot nevertheless welcomes “the continued internationalization of sales outside Europe at 27.4%, an increase of 3.7 points compared to 2021”, with an increase in volumes of nearly 4%.

However, Europe still largely dominates the brand’s global sales, with 772,466 units and a market share of 5.5%. South America is far behind with 108,065 sales, just ahead of the Middle East & Africa zone, at 97,293 units. Volumes remain anecdotal in Asia-Pacific-China, at 70,148 sales.

As in 2021, the Peugeot 208 is establishing itself as the leading model on the European market, and its electric version, the e-208, for its part, dominates sales in the B segment, versatile city cars.
