As can be seen on the heading of Steam dedicated to statistics, the new record peak to beat is more exactly 33,032,470 users, far ahead of the 31 million users that Steam had gathered for the first time in November 2022. Free-to-play dominates the top 10
The PC player base therefore increases every year, but if there is one thing that does not change on Steam, it is the status of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2. On Sunday, the two free-to- Play from Valve reached a peak of 1,133,708 and 759,689 players simultaneously connected respectively, more than any other title on this record day. To complete the podium, Steam was able to count on the fashion phenomenon of the moment, Goose Goose Duck. The new darling of the social deduction game a la Among Us reached a peak of 640,324 players, driven by the Chinese and Korean markets. It would indeed seem that the popularity rating of this free game released in October 2021 exploded when a singer from the South Korean group BTS started streaming it.
Then there are more classic titles like PUBG: Battlegrounds (peak of 450,151 players), Apex Legends (peak of 372,374 players) and Lost Ark (peak of 332,977 players), i.e. a top 6 exclusively composed of free-to- play. Grand Theft Auto V, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Rust, Naraka: Bladepoint and Elden Ring also surpassed 100,000 concurrent in-game players on Sunday, contributing significantly to this new attendance record.
