The downloadable version of Stellar Repair for Photo runs on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 (32-bit and 64-bit respectively). The software for Mac OS is also available in version 10.6 or later. At least 4 GB RAM and 250 MB free hard disk space are required for the installation. 8 GB RAM or more is recommended.
Save images without prior knowledge
Stellar Repair for Photo is very easy to use. The first step is to select the damaged photos, whether they are on your hard drive, USB stick, memory card or any other storage medium. The software also works with JPG files RAW formats from various camera manufacturers together (ARW, CR2, CR3, CRW, DNG, ERF, HEIC, MRW, NEF, NRW, ORF, PEF, RAF, RW2, SR2, SRF and TIFF). With a click on the repair button, Stellar Repair for Photo will automatically make all possible repair attempts. Among other things, the tool corrects corrupted headers and invalid image file structures or at least extracts any existing thumbnails from particularly badly damaged photos.
For some damage it may also be necessary to provide an example file as part of an advanced repair, which is then used for the repair. This must have been taken with the same camera and be in the same format.
According to the manufacturer, the software should also be able to repair greyed, pixelated, blurry, distorted and grainy images, although it is unfortunately not entirely clear which corrections are made here. Unfortunately, there are no other setting options.

Stellar Repair for Photo will first preview repairable images, if you want to actually recover them you will need to purchase the full version. This is available as a standard, professional and premium edition, each with a different range of functions. For example, the premium version can also repair corrupted video files.
