WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin gave his thoughts on CM Punk, and he also revealed that he exchanged messages with the AEW star.
In an interview with Forbes magazine’s Alfred Konuwa, the veteran discussed his relationship with and opinion of CM Punk:
Dude, I just texted Punk last night. Didn’t know he had torn his triceps. I haven’t been following anything. I don’t know what’s going on with that. Phil and I text each other from time to time. We rarely speak, probably once or twice a year.
I love the guy and I don’t even know if I mentored him because Punk is probably a lot smarter than I am. He’s a great promoter, a great worker, he has his own style and we’re just friends.
I think I remember there’s a picture of him and me in Chicago, my favorite city to work in, my favorite building. Maybe he looked up to me at the time, but I don’t know if I mentored him much, because I think he paid his own dues. He learned the way he learned and surpassed him on his own merits. The fact that I could have been an influence would be flattering if that were the case. But he made his own career.
