The Röthner municipal council decided on a budget for the current year and cost-of-living compensation for low-income households.

Röthis. Due to the current situation and the persistently high but necessary investments in various projects, the financial situation of the municipality of Röthis will deteriorate significantly in 2023.

Investment projects are noticeable

Also in the current year, the estimate of the community of Röthis is characterized by a further increase in costs due to fixed items in the area of the social fund, the hospital fund and the state levy with a total of around 1.7 million euros. But larger investment projects are also clearly noticeable. In the current financial budget of the community, 1.4 million euros are planned for the water pipe renewal and 380,000 euros for a new urn wall at the cemetery, as well as barrier-free access. Furthermore, 300,000 euros will be invested in the further planning of the renovation work on the Röthner sports field and 180,000 euros will flow into the renovation of the bus station at the Rössle.

Rising debt in Röthis

This means that expenses of EUR 9,510,300 are planned for the general operational activities of the municipality, including the necessary investments in the financing budget. The expected income is 6,659,800 euros, resulting in a deficit of 2,850,000 euros. Since around 200,000 euros will also be needed to service the debt in 2023, a loan of around three million euros will be required. This means that the community’s debt level at the end of the year will be EUR 4,544,300 – this corresponds to a per capita debt of EUR 2,092.

Cost-of-living compensation for low-income households

After the municipality of Röthis also has to ensure its services such as water supply and sewage and waste disposal and at the same time needs cost-covering tariffs, fee increases are also necessary for 2023. The increase for the water fee was set at 10 percent and for the sewer fee at 4 percent. At the same time, it was decided to support low-income households, so all those households that received or received a heating cost subsidy in the application period from October 17th, 2022 to February 24th, 2023 will automatically receive a cost-of-living allowance of 100 euros in March. Social welfare recipients who cannot apply for the heating subsidy from the municipality but have to apply to the district authority also receive the cost-of-living allowance of 100 euros per household, but they must apply to the municipality of Röthis.
