PNearly 2,800 flights were canceled in the United States on Monday, while several states are still facing winter storm Elliott. This meteorological phenomenon, described as “historic”, has already claimed the lives of at least 30 people.


In addition, 5,319 flights were delayed on Monday.

The organization of Southwest Airlines, one of the largest passenger carriers in the country, has been strained by the storm, with 725 flights canceled on Monday alone.

Other American companies such as Delta or United Airlines have also canceled dozens of flights.

The United States has been facing a “historic winter storm” since Wednesday evening, according to the American Weather Service (NWS). In several regions, the mercury suddenly fell below 0°C and the temperature felt could reach up to -48°C in places. Hundreds of thousands of homes are without power and in many cities residents have been advised to stay indoors as travel is extremely dangerous.
