Actually, Roland Virkus’ word of power could not be clearer: “We will not give up Yann Sommer. That’s what we told Bayern as well.” In the end, however, the sporting director of Borussia Mönchengladbach is only concerned with the money.
Apparently FC Bayern understood it that way too. As the Swiss ‘Blick’ reports, negotiations between the two traditional Bundesliga clubs have been resumed in secret.
There is only one topic in these new talks between Virkus and Salihamidzic: the fee for summer. The 34-year-old wants to move to Munich six months before the end of his contract, win his first Bundesliga title and challenge Manuel Neuer next year.
Big financial differences
Financially, however, the parties are still far apart: while Bayern only want to spend around four million euros, the Foals are demanding up to ten million euros. The result is also completely open to the Swiss tabloid.
The paper therefore asks itself: “Can you find a solution with a transfer fee of 5 to 6 million euros, for example, which, if successful, can increase to 7.8 million with bonuses?”
