Guido Benza, Deputy Minister of Transportation, stressed that the Government of Santiago Peña will be strongly committed to improving the public passenger transport system, so that citizens spend less time on buses.

In an interview with the program Fuego Cruzado broadcast by GEN/Nación Media, Guido Benza, Deputy Minister of Transportpointed out that one of his challenges at the head of the institution will be the redesign of the public transport service, in order to optimize the waiting time and transfer of citizens, either for their work environment or for recreation.

One of the measures to be implemented will be installation of preferential bus lanes. The first will be on the Transchaco Route and then it will be transferred to the other trunks. “The idea is that the traffic is more fluid with the speed of public transport,” he said. “The indications that we have received from the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, is that the passenger spends less time on the buses,” he added.

Also Benza said that the redesign of bus itinerariespaying special attention to the authorization of Government offices.

The vice minister recalled that at the time he carried out within the Vice Ministry of Transportation, when he was in the period 2013-2018 as chief of staff, the installation of mandatory stops along the Traschaco route and Madame Lynch avenue. He promised install more shelters for passengers.

Over the electric buses, Benza pointed out that there are projects on the agenda to implement them in Central and Asunción, as was done in Alto Paraná. However, he clarified that there are many factors to carry out this initiative, such as the platform, the charging points, the price of energy, among others.

In his opinion It would be ideal for the entire transport service to have a single regulatory body, since currently internal buses are governed by each municipality and not by the Vice Ministry of Transportation.

Regarding the problem of regulated Due to lack of payment to public transport companies, the authority indicated that the corresponding payment is being made as scheduled.
